This is the number one thing small business owners get wrong when marketing their business

There is one thing that I see small business owners doing wrong when it comes to marketing their hospitality or food business.

It’s a lack of consistency.

Most businesses have at least one social media account. But posting once a week or once a month is not enough to show the social media algorithm that your content is worth sharing. The gods of social media want consistent, quality content that people want to engage with. The truth is, the more you post, the more the algorithm shares your content with a wider and wider audience.

I recommend a bare minimum of three posts per week for all businesses, but for real results and to grow your reach and your customer base, businesses should be posting daily.

The same goes for email marketing.

Most small businesses I work with are afraid of hassling their customers and hate asking for the sale.

But remember, you’re a business, people want to know what you have that will benefit their lives!

Emailing once a month or once a quarter is not enough to train your audience to expect your emails and to want to read what value you have on offer for them.

I recommend emailing at least once a week. It should be a spread of sales emails, brand building and story telling that offer tangible value for the reader.

And consistency in marketing ties into a bigger concept.

And that’s branding.

The concept of branding confuses many business owners.

But if you boil it down to its core, branding is just consistency.

It’s consistency in your aesthetic, consistency in the way you speak to people and consistency in when and how you engage with your customers.

Consistency makes people feel safe.

And people want to buy from companies that make them feel safe.

Becoming a consistent business will help you become a thriving business.

And that’s a win win for everyone!
